L.A Louver
This is a museum, one of the largest museums in the world, and a historical monument. It is located in Paris, France.
The Museum is located in the Louvre Palace and was originally built under Philip II from the 12th to the late 13th century. The ruins of the medieval Louvre can be seen on the ground floor of the museum. During the French Revolution, the National Assembly ordered that the Louvre be used as a museum to exhibit great works. The Museum opened on 10 August 1793 with an exhibition of 537 paintings.
The collection is divided into eight departments: Egyptian Antiquities; Near Eastern Antiquities; Greek, Etruscan, and Roman antiquities; Islamic art; Sculpture; Decorative arts; Paintings; Printing and Art. The Musée du Louvre houses more than 380,000 objects and displays 35,000 works of art in eight departments of more than 60,600 square meters (652,000 square feet) set aside for permanent collection.
